A luxurious and humid environment

These are habitats of damp mountain ravines of the sub Alpine and mountain levels. The combination of moisture and the abundance of organic material give exuberant vegetation, of very tall plants with immense leaves. The best example is the adenostyle alliariae with blue-violet flowers and whose large leaves can sometimes cover large areas for example in the Cirque de l’Impradine.

Adenostyle alliariae
Alpine sow thistle It is accompanied by other species of the beech forest such as the martagon lily, Austrian leopard’s bane and white buttercup. Other large and beautiful flowers can grow there such as Alpine sow thistle, masterwort, monk’s hoods and the Alpine rose that has no thorns.
